If you’re searching for the Internet’s most comprehensive Vega Protein Smoothie review, then you’ve come to the right place. Here at the Vegan Protein Powder Review, we conduct in-depth reviews on various plant-based protein powders. We particularly appreciate Vega protein powders because they typically contain no added sugars, nor any artificial flavors or sweeteners.
Vega Protein Smoothie is a great option if you’re looking for a simple, low-calorie, vegan protein powder supplement. One small scoop packs 15 grams of plant-based protein and only 80 calories, offering a good bang per each dose (and your dollar.) With 12 scoops in a standard 9.2 ounce pouch (and an average online cost of ranging from $12-16 per pouch,) Vega Protein Smoothie quality vegan protein powder at just over $1 per serving.
But simplicity and affordability aren’t the only defining qualities that make Vega Protein Smoothie an awesome choice among plant-based protein supplements. It also tastes great. In fact, compared to other Vega protein powders I’ve reviewed, I found Vega Protein Smoothie to be one of the best-tasting (in my opinion.) Next to Vega Sport protein, a more advanced blend with more protein and amino acid concentration, Vega Protein Smoothie provides a lighter alternative for active lifestyles.
Like all reviews, here I analyze Vega Protein Smoothie’s nutritional value and ingredients, quality of taste, and overall value given it’s price. Having alluded to some of this already, you’re probably on the edge of your seat with anticipation. So let’s jump right into the complete Vega Protein Smoothie review.
Nutrition Review: What Are Vega Protein Smoothie Ingredients?
The protein blend in Vega Protein Smoothie contains: pea protein, saviseed protein, hemp seed protein, and sprouted whole grain brown rice protein. Unlike other Vega protein powders that include the amino acid profile, this one does not. However, given that there’s a combination of pea and brown rice protein powders, it is a complete protein. And with the inclusion of hemp seed protein, there’s probably a fair amount of all essential amino acids (EAAs) and branched chain amino acids (BCAAs).
The nutritional profile of Vega Protein Smoothie is basic in the most beautiful way. With only 4 grams of carbs (2 grams of sugar) and no fat, almost all of the product’s calories are in the protein. It’s designed for a specific purpose – protein supplementation. But it also comes in several interesting flavors, so there’s also that component. In essence, Vega Protein Smoothie makes for one of the most simple yet effective products in its class.
Non-GMO, and 100{6f6325e81006090c67b24799731aac0121cbc6cbed9a6704f5a30a9474cd8037} free of dairy, gluten, soy, artificial flavors and colors, Vega Protein Smoothie is one of cleanest plant-based proteins with the ingredients list that’s pronounceable and recognizable by most. It’s also infused with Vega’s green blend, which contains: organic alfalfa grass powder, spinach powder, broccoli powder, and organic kale powder. There’s also papaya concentrate powder in the product, which provides naturally occurring enzymes.
There are natural flavoring agents in the product (such as natural French vanilla flavor (in the Viva Vanilla and Natural) and natural strawberry and melon flavors (in the Bodacious Berry), while Choc-a-lot contains Dutch cocoa powder. All flavors, including Natural, contain stevia leaf extract. The sweetness from the stevia leaf is a little on the forward side, so if you’re sensitive to stevia, you may want to opt for something else.
In the nutritional review, Vega Protein Smoothie accomplishes its mission in providing a minimal plant-based protein powder without all the bells and whistles. But because not all ingredients are organic, nor is the amino acid profile known, and cannot give it a full 5 out of 5.

Flavor Reviews: Does Vega Protein Smoothie Taste Good?
There are five total flavors in the family of Vega Protein Smoothie: Natural, Viva Vanilla, Choc-a-lot, Bodacious Berry, and Tropical Tango. So far, I’ve had the opportunity to review the former four flavors. I’ll update this review when I can get my hands on a single-serving packet of Tropical Tango. But it’s sounds funky, so it’ll probably be awhile.
Vega Protein Smoothie Natural Review
Interestingly enough, Vega Protein Smoothie Natural still contains natural French vanilla flavor and stevia leaf extract in the ingredients. So it’s not even comparable to seemingly similar unflavored vegan protein powders. It’s still semi-sweet, but not overbearing. Compared to other flavors in this product line, it the least stevia-intense, so it retains the natural flavor of the application you’re using it for (i.e. fruit smoothie).
While the flavoring is minimal, Vega Protein Smoothie Natural still renders a pleasant vanilla bean taste that’s reminiscent of cake batter. Bear in mind, it’s not as sweet as cake batter, but the comparison to baked goods seems on point. The stevia taste might come off as a little weird to some individuals, but I found it to be okay. Overall it was one of the better unflavored vegan protein powders, but not the best.
Vega Protein Smoothie Viva Vanilla Review
Essentially a sweeter version to Natural, Vega Protein Smoothie Viva Vanilla tastes like powdered sugar cookies. Overall, the blend tastes pretty good, but it’s a little intense. I think Vega took the Natural flavor and jacked-it-up with stevia to give it a little more kick and buffer any earthy flavors.
Vega Protein Smoothie Viva Vanilla has a smooth texture and nutty vanilla bean flavor that pairs well with almost any combination. There is no chalky or pastiness to the protein powder, and it blends optimally in smoothies and protein shakes. The powder also stirs well into liquids, making it a great option for on-the-go supplementation.
Vega Protein Smoothie Bodacious Berry Review
Vega Protein Smoothie Bodacious Berry is probably my least favorite of all, but I am typically averse to berry and tropical flavored protein powders. Maybe it’s because their application seems so limited to smoothies, unique recipes, or simply almond milk or water, but the overall berry flavor was a bit much.
Like Viva Vanilla, the stevia was also a bit much. But if you’re into cranberry and pomegranate flavors, then you might really enjoy Vega Protein Smoothie Bodacious Berry. Perhaps try including some banana in the mix to balance out the overall flavor.
Vega Protein Smoothie Choc-a-lot Review
As a fan of dark chocolate that’s slightly more bitter than sweet, I was excited to see that Vega Protein Smoothie Choc-a-lot contained Dutch cocoa powder. Typically this flavoring agent pairs well with plant-based protein powders, especially those that contain greens. This product nailed it, as it was both rich and smooth, but not overly sweet like some of the other flavors.
I found Vega Protein Smoothie Choc-a-lot to taste so good that it is almost identical to real chocolate milk, but a little darker. It’s not gritty, nor is it chalky or sooty. The protein powder mixes well in just about any application. I suggest trying it in oatmeal or smoothie with canned coconut milk, peanut butter, and banana.
There’s both good and bad qualities about the taste of Vega Protein Smoothie. While I found the stevia to be a little intense in most flavors, each was unique and some tasty in their own distinct way.

Price Review: How Much Does Vega Protein Smoothie Cost?
Because the price of Vega Protein Smoothie may fluctuate based on the retailer and market demands (especially if you buy the product on Amazon where there are various sellers who may offer lower prices), I am unable list a specific price here in the review. But what I can do is give you value rating of Vega Protein Smoothie with respect to the product’s quality, volume, and cost compared to related vegan protein powders on the market.
On the complete spectrum of plant-based protein powders, Vega Protein Smoothie is about average in price. Like I mentioned above, you can typically find the standard 9.2 ounce pouch priced at around $12-16. I’ve seen it as low as $11.70 on Amazon, but no guarantees. Given the fact that it’s simple yet high-quality vegan protein powder, it’s fair value with little risk in trying it.
